Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 18, 2026

This policy describes how the Torevo operator (the "Operator") handles your information in the Torevo app (the "App").

1. Operator

The App is provided by the Torevo operator, an individual. The Operator's name and address are disclosed without delay on request; send a request by email to [email protected].

2. Information we collect

The App may collect:

3. Where data is stored

Logs and settings are stored on your device and are also stored (synced) on the Operator's server (Supabase), linked to an anonymous identifier issued per device. Registering an email address is optional and exists so you can carry your logs over to another device. Once registered, that identifier is linked to your email address, and any other device signed in with the same email address accesses the same records.

Body photos saved as body-progress records are stored encrypted on your device only, and Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode is required each time they are shown. They are excluded from device backups. Those photos are never sent to a server (a reference photo attached for goal interpretation is sent as described in section 4).

For gyms you added from search, the equipment, fixtures, and machine types you tick are stored on the server, together with which gym (the facility you chose from search) they are for, under your anonymous identifier while "Share equipment anonymously" is on (it is on by default), and are offered as starting values to other users who add the same gym. Other users see only items shared by at least three different people and by at least 60% of the people who shared anything for that gym, never who shared them or how many. Your location, the names you gave your gyms, and workout records are not included. Turning it off deletes what you shared from the server.

If you join the friends feed, the nickname and avatar colour you choose, your friendships (people with whom you accepted an invite), the people you block, your posts (a finished workout's date, duration, total volume, set count, exercises with each one's heaviest set, the number of personal records, the caption you add, and a photo), stickers and reports are stored on the server. A post's photo is downscaled on your device, with information such as where it was taken removed, and stored in cloud storage the Operator manages (Cloudflare R2). Only you and your friends can see your posts and photos. Posts never include other text you typed (memos, template names, custom exercise names), meal or body measurement records, or body photos.

While you are in the friends feed and "Show my usual templates to friends" is on (it is on by default), the contents of your three most-used templates (catalogue exercises, each one's sets and reps, the goal, and template names that passed the check) are stored on the server so that your friends can see them on your profile. Weights, memos and custom exercise names are not included. Turning it off deletes them from the server.

If you pick exercises in "Compare bests", the estimated one-rep max over the past year for each of them (catalogue exercises only, up to eight; worked out from the weights you logged, never from your body weight) is stored on the server so that your friends can see it. Unpicking an exercise deletes it from the server.

If you tap "Going to the gym today", the time you tapped it is stored on the server so that your friends can see it that day (they get a notification that names only you). Taking it back deletes it.

4. Sharing with AI providers

Only if you enable an AI feature, such as meal estimation or goal interpretation, or choose to send a photo for equipment identification, is the following sent through the Operator's server to an AI provider:

The current providers are Anthropic PBC and OpenAI, L.L.C. Providers may change.

The Operator does not add your name, email address, account identifier, or similar to what is sent. Whatever is contained in the text or photos you submit (such as a face visible in a photo) is, however, sent as is. You can withdraw AI features at any time in Settings.

When you post to the friends feed with a caption or a photo, that caption and photo are sent, before they are saved, to a moderation service of OpenAI, L.L.C. to check them for inappropriate content. The name of a template shown to friends is sent to the same service the first time it is shown. Only the verdict is used; the Operator does not keep what was sent for the check.

5. AI assistants you connect

If you connect an AI assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude to the App (by creating a connection URL, or by allowing it in the App after choosing "Connect" in the assistant), the assistant can, when you ask it in a conversation, read the workout, body and meal logs stored on our server and send a suggested meal entry. It cannot read body photos, meal photos or AI estimation details. A suggested meal is not added to your logs until you review and save it in the App.

What the assistant reads is handled under the terms and privacy policy of its provider (such as OpenAI, L.L.C. or Anthropic PBC). We store the keys and tokens that identify a connection only in a form that cannot be reversed (a hash). You can disconnect at any time in the App's settings, and the assistant loses access immediately.

6. Location

Gym detection reads your location only while the App is in use and computes the distance to your registered gyms on the device. The location used for detection is never sent to a server.

If you enable "Today's plan when I arrive at the gym", you allow location access "Always", and the App hands the positions of your registered gyms to your device's operating system, which detects when you arrive at one even while the App is not open. Detection and the notification happen on the device; neither your location nor your arrivals are sent to a server. Turning it off stops the detection.

If you choose "Use current location" when searching for a gym, your current coordinates are sent to the Operator's server to find gyms nearby. They are used only for that search and are not stored.

A gym's position saved with "Save this spot" is stored (synced) on the server as part of that gym's record, like your other records.

7. Health data

If you enable the integration, the App reads and writes health data within the scope listed above. Weight, body fat, steps, and other values imported through the integration are stored (synced) on the Operator's server as part of your records. Heart rate, VO2 max, and menstrual data are only used for display on your device and are never stored on the Operator's server. They are not sent to third parties, except that your latest body measurements may be sent to the AI provider if you enable goal interpretation (section 4).

8. Notifications

If you enable news notifications, a push notification token is stored on the Operator's server. Turning notifications off removes the registration. If you join the friends feed, the token and your device language are stored on the Operator's server to tell you about friends' stickers, personal bests and gym visits, sent through Expo's push notification service (United States). Only the friend's nickname and the sticker or number of personal bests are sent. Turning friend notifications off deletes the tokens of all your devices.

9. How we use information

Information is used to:

Your logs, health data, location, and similar information are never used for advertising or for analysing how the App is used.

To improve the App, the iPhone and Android App sends the following while "Send info to improve the app" is on in Settings (it is on by default). Turning it off stops both.

Your logs, health data, location, photos, anything you type, your email address, and your account identifier are never sent. The Operator does not use this information to identify you. These services receive the IP address of the request, but the Operator does not use their settings that derive a location from it. PostHog keeps the information for up to one year, and Sentry for up to 90 days. See https://posthog.com/privacy and https://sentry.io/privacy/ for how they handle it.

The App may show ads from Google AdMob to users who are not on a paid plan (only a video ad you choose to watch when you start Auto or to get more AI estimates). Only non-personalised ads are requested, and the App never asks for permission to track you with your device's advertising identifier. To serve and measure ads, prevent fraud, and diagnose AdMob itself, AdMob sends Google your device's IP address (approximate location), device identifiers (such as the advertising identifier), device and OS type, information about the App, your interactions with ads (such as views and taps), and crash and performance diagnostics. See https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads for how Google handles this information.

Buying and restoring the paid plan, and checking access to it, use a service of RevenueCat, Inc. On iPhone and Android, the App sends your account's anonymous identifier (section 3) to RevenueCat at launch and asks it for your purchase status under that identifier, whether or not you have bought anything. RevenueCat handles the purchase information it receives from the App Store or Google Play (product, purchase, renewal and expiry dates, price and currency, country, transaction numbers, and whether it was a test purchase), together with your device and OS type, the App's version, and your IP address. The Operator's server receives from RevenueCat, and stores, the purchase status for each identifier (when the paid plan ends, and which store it came from). Your logs, health data, location, and email address are never sent to RevenueCat. See https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy for how RevenueCat handles this information.

10. Retention and deletion

11. Your rights

You may ask the Operator to disclose, correct, delete, or stop using your personal information. Send your request through "Report a bug / request" in Settings, with an email address for the reply written in the message, or by email to [email protected].

12. Security

Communication between the App and the server is encrypted. Data on the server is restricted so that other users cannot access it.

The Operator handles information using services of companies outside Japan. The server that stores your logs and settings is a service of Supabase, Inc. (United States), with the data kept in Japan (Tokyo). The storage for friend-feed photos and the website use Cloudflare, Inc. (United States); AI features and post checks use Anthropic PBC and OpenAI, L.L.C. (both United States); improvement data goes to PostHog, Inc. and Functional Software, Inc. (both United States); ads come from Google LLC (United States); paid-plan checks use RevenueCat, Inc. (United States); and friend notifications use 650 Industries, Inc. (Expo, United States). What each receives is described in sections 3, 4, 8, and 9.

The United States has no comprehensive federal law equivalent to Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information; it has regulation under the Federal Trade Commission Act and state laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act. The U.S. system is also described in the survey of foreign personal information protection systems published by Japan's Personal Information Protection Commission. Each company sets out its measures for protecting personal information in its own terms and privacy policy.

13. Changes

The Operator may revise this policy as needed. The revised policy takes effect when posted in the App. Significant changes will be announced in the App.

14. Contact

Send questions about this policy through "Report a bug / request" in Settings, with an email address for the reply written in the message, or by email to [email protected].

If "Report a bug / request" does not appear in Settings in your configuration of the App, direct inquiries to the contact listed where you obtained the App (such as its store page).
